The key to getting it in the hole: Keep your head down and spread your legs a little further. Kidding aside, I first learned about the game in 2005 from PP Jimmy Santos, who introduced me to his set of friends outside of Rotary. Fromthen, I realized that golf's unique and undeniable power extends far beyond its lush greens and competitive spirit-- it's a sport that transcends boundaries and time, fostering connections, instilling life lessons, and providing a sanctuary for personal growth. With that, here's 3 reasons why you should start getting your daily dose of iron.

1. If you want to become better in life, play golf because golf is a microcosm of life itself. It teaches golfers patience, perseverance, and the art of adaptation. Playing in ever-changing environments and navigating various terrains and weather conditions are much like the challenges one encounters in their journey through life. Golf requires strategic thinking and precise execution cultivates mental acuity and problem-solving skills, life skills we need to master to succeed.

2. The golf course has the ability to forge relationships. The camaraderie that develops between players, whether they are seasoned professionals or casual enthusiasts, is a testament to the sport's capacity to bring people together. Amidst friendly banter and shared experiences on the course, lifelong friendships are forged, and business connections are established. Now that I'm older, I have grown my FB friends list by up to 5x through golf and Rotary. And with Rotary golf, I am now 100 likes per post richer.

3. Golf has the power to teach life skills and lessons that I otherwise would take for granted, namely: humility, integrity, and honesty. The sport has a way of humbling even the most accomplished individuals. A perfectly planned shot can end up in a bunker, just as meticulous life plans can unravel unexpectedly. Furthermore, players are often responsible for self-policing their actions, adhering to rules and demonstrating respect for fellow competitors.

In essence, the power of golf goes beyond the swing of a club or the pursuit of a low score. As players step onto the course, they embark on a journey of self-discovery, personal growth, and the realization that the true essence of the game lies not just in the pursuit of victory, but in the journey itself.
